Campaigning for gender equality When Women Speak CEDAW#2

The PCDD project “When Women Speak CEDAW #2” funded by the Norwegian Embassy in Lebanon was a continuation of the previous phase, driven by the requests and demands received from NGOs.

Partnering with over 25 NGOs throughout Lebanon, PCDD generated a wider and concrete understanding of CEDAW’s convention by organizing 45 town hall meetings in the different regions of South Lebanon. By converting CEDAW’s terms and articles into dialect language and visual schematic representations, over 900 women were familiarized with the convention’s content. Women who had participated in the first phase took the lead in organizing and facilitating these meetings. As a result, more than 900 men and women benefited from the insightful discussions and knowledge shared during these gatherings.
